The 1995–96 Kentucky Wildcats, coached by Rick Pitino, captured the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship with a 34–2 record, marking the program's sixth national title and its first since 1978. Known as "The Untouchables," the team dominated the tournament, winning their six games by an average margin of 21.5 points. In the championship game on April 1, 1996, Kentucky defeated Syracuse 76–67 at the Continental Airlines Arena. Tony Delk was named the Most Outstanding Player after scoring a team-high 24 points, including a championship game-record seven three-pointers. The roster featured key future NBA players such as Antoine Walker, Derek Anderson, Ron Mercer, and Mark Pope
