Held from September 17–19, 2004, at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Township, Michigan, the event resulted in a historic victory for Europe! Europe defeated the United States with a final score of 18½ to 9½. This nine-point margin remains the largest victory margin in Ryder Cup history for the European team since continental Europe was included in 1979. It was also the most lopsided defeat for the U.S. team on home soil in the modern era.
